This is considered to be David Lynch's most chaotic film. A jazz musician (Bill Pullman) and his wife (Patricia Arquette) receive a box of videotapes one morning, and they discover that the content is snippets of their daily life. From then on, they receive such videotapes every morning. One day, the musician finds that the tape contains footage of him killing his wife! When he rushes into the bedroom, he indeed finds his wife dead on the bed. The police take him away. After one night, the musician, who was sitting in a cell, suddenly becomes a young mechanic, and the baffled police have no choice but to let him go. The mechanic earns the respect of a mob boss due to his excellent car repair skills; at this time, he realizes that the boss's woman looks exactly like his wife, just with a different hair color. The boss's woman actively seduces the mechanic, and the two abscond with money. When they reach a desert highway, the mechanic has wild sex with the woman, and then he transforms back into the musician…
