Capable "Protection Task Force" officer Li Wenjian (played by郑伊健) faces relationship troubles with his girlfriend Brenda (played by 林嘉欣) due to his personality issues. Amid a tricky case, he encounters former police psychologist and hypnotist Li Shangzheng (played by 黎明), who is currently serving time in prison. Despite being aware of Li Shangzheng's skills, Li Wenjian remains unusually cautious, yet is unknowingly hypnotized by him, facilitating the theft of the diamond he is meant to protect. During the quest to retrieve the diamond, Li Wenjian discovers that Li Shangzheng's theft is a desperate act; he is actually an upright, kind-hearted man enduring humiliation for a greater cause. Determined to assist him in combating the gang leader Ouyang Rui (played by 吴镇宇), who threatens the lives of his wife (played by 徐静蕾) and their twin children, Li Wenjian also reconciles with Brenda throughout this process.
