The story takes place in a small town in the American West, where a woman named Mrs. Wainwright has established a very large saloon outside of town. She hopes that once the railroad is completed and passes through this town, she can transform her saloon into her own town. However, the people in the town are aware of her desire and want her to leave. One day, four men drive a four-horse carriage and kill a man. Several government officials, led by a chief named Emma Small, arrive at the giant saloon to capture the murderer. The four men are friends of Wainwright. She strongly opposes the officials' actions, and just as a deadlock occurs, one of her friends, Johnny Gutaal, appears...
