Car salesman Shelly (William H. Macy) has a perfect plan to build a parking lot. He asks his wealthy father-in-law, Willy, for money multiple times, but stingy Willy never agrees. Left with no choice, Shelly turns to Carl (Steve Buscemi) and Gea (Peter Stormare), asking them to kidnap his wife to extort $1 million from Willy, promising them $40,000 each upon success. The three quickly come to an agreement. When Shelly returns home, Willy tells him he might consider his plan. Overjoyed, Shelly rushes to Willy, only to find that Willy is not offering to lend money but wants to invest himself. Disappointed, Shelly returns home to discover that his wife has been kidnapped. During their escape after the kidnapping, Carl and Gea accidentally kill a police officer and two bystanders, and the situation spirals out of control...
