Once a popular action star known for zombie movies, Qian Xiaohao (played by Qian Xiaohao) has seen his career and life plummet to rock bottom. He checks into a dilapidated old apartment with his meager belongings. Guided by the security guard Uncle Yan (played by Lu Haipeng), he enters the infamous haunted unit 2442. Xiaohao attempts to hang himself, but at the brink of death, he encounters a fierce ghost. Fortunately, the reclusive Taoist priest A You (played by Chen You) intervenes and saves his life. Xiaohao becomes curious about a white-haired boy Xiaobai and Yang Feng (played by Hui Yinghong), a woman who often peeks at the entrance of 2442 and consumes offering food. He learns from Uncle Yan about a bloody tragedy that occurred many years ago. Uncle Dong (played by Wu Yaohan) accidentally falls to his death, and his wife Aunt Mei (played by Bao Qijing) seeks help from A Jiu (played by Zhong Fa), who practices dark arts, in an attempt to bring him back to life, leading to an irreversible tragedy.
