In the 1980s, female journalist Karen (played by Alison Lohman) is investigating the truth behind a hotel murder case from fifteen years ago. The individuals involved, Lenny (played by Kevin Bacon) and Vince (played by Colin Firth), are famous partner entertainers. In 1972, while raising funds for charity on a tour, a woman's body was discovered in their suite… Karen approaches both men and obtains Lenny's autobiography manuscript. Lenny claims the deceased, Maureen, drowned due to a drug overdose, but after corroborating Lenny's lifestyle and his autobiography, Karen uncovers numerous doubts. At that time, Lenny and Vince's careers were thriving, which led the mafia to invite them to perform. One night, school reporter Maureen beds down with the two men and accidentally discovers Vince's homosexual tendencies, using this as leverage. Lenny suspects that the drug-addicted Vince killed Maureen, but the two escape punishment under the mafia's protection. While Karen remains noncommittal about the statements from both men, the real murderer begins to surface... This film won the Best Screenplay award at the 2006 Genie Awards in Canada.
