Taiwanese female writer Xu Ruoqing (played by Lin Xinru) moves to the mainland to live with her lover Zhao Yitang (played by Wu Zhenyu). Before she leaves, her mother (played by Jin Yanling) gives her the key to an ancestral old house, so Ruoqing moves in with her daughter Xiaomeng (played by Zhang Yuwens) to the legendary haunted house—Zhangnei No. 81.
