Ordinary woman Jessabelle (Sarah Snook) and her boyfriend Preston (Mark Webber) are about to welcome new life, but just as they are preparing to move into their new home, they face an unexpected car accident. This disaster causes the two most important lives to vanish from Jessabelle's life, leaving her in unbearable pain. She calls her estranged father and returns to her old home in Louisiana in a wheelchair. One day, Jessabelle accidentally finds a tape of her mother recorded before her birth, in which her mother hopes her daughter will see the video when she turns 18 and forecasts Jessabelle's future with tarot cards. The prophecy includes an invisible spirit lurking around Jessabelle, with malicious intent to drive her out of the house.
