In 1977, on the 13th day of the seventh lunar month, seven children made a toxic vow in an abandoned house, agreeing to meet once every year on the 14th of the seventh lunar month. In 1993, on the 7th day of the seventh lunar month, a man and a woman died under mysterious circumstances. Detective Officer Chow (played by Chow Yun-fat) and his new partner (played by Louis Koo) are assigned to investigate. During the investigation, the two discover that the wife of the deceased man (played by Tony Leung) is the prime suspect. Many of the clues she provides are difficult to explain. They continue to investigate this bizarre death case with her and find out that she is one of the seven children who made the toxic vow back in the day, and the other five who also made the vow have all died. As their investigation deepens, they encounter all kinds of unbelievable strange occurrences, with anyone related to her either going missing or being killed. The vow they made in their childhood seems to be coming true one by one. This film was nominated for three awards at the 13th Hong Kong Film Awards in 1994: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best New Performer.
