On a sunny day, John (Daniel Zovatto) and his five friends—Katie (Bonnie Dennison), Matt (Chris Conroy), Zeke (Griffin Newman), Simon (Jonny Orsini), and Debbie (Mackenzie Rosman)—drive to a secluded spot by the lake for their graduation party. They row out to the center of the lake, but John, who has a terrifying memory associated with this water, feels uneasy. However, his reckless friends eagerly jump into the water, enjoying their time. Unfortunately, the good times are short-lived, as the small boat is violently jolted, and Debbie is bitten and killed by a strange fish. The nightmare for the young people begins, and their suffering has only just started, as a bloodthirsty hunter closes in on them...
