To find the lost Omegahedron on Earth, the leader of Argo City, Zaltar (Peter O'Toole), sends the superheroine Kara (Helen Slater) to Earth. At this time, the Omegahedron has fallen into the hands of the evil witch Selena (Faye Dunaway), who holds a party to flaunt this priceless treasure. This is Kara's best opportunity to retrieve it. Kara's actions anger Selena, who tricks her into coming to the Phantom Zone, stripping her of her powers and freedom.
