Perhaps in the past, or perhaps in the future, humanity will colonize the universe on a large scale. When the population balloons to 500 billion, humans scattered across the universe return to their ancestral home, Earth, triggering a devastating homecoming war. To protect this sacred land, humanity establishes the Gaia Treaty, agreeing that no one is allowed to touch this place. However, Harlock (voiced by Shun Oguri), once the captain of the United Fleet, betrays the Gaia Treaty, sailing his Arcadia while raising a banner of rebellion, becoming a wanted fugitive for a century. The commander of the United Fleet, Isola (voiced by Tomoyuki Morikawa), sends his brother Yama (voiced by Haruma Miura) to infiltrate the Arcadia and uncover the secret of the perpetual motion machine invented by the Nibelungen. During this time, Harlock leads his crew closer to Earth, while the United Fleet sets up a comprehensive blockade around the solar system to stop his advance. The distant homeland and the long-lost truth leave everyone in shock... This film is adapted from the classic sci-fi manga by Leiji Matsumoto.
