In 1941, World War II was raging. London, England, faced devastating bombings from Nazi fascists, leaving thousands homeless and countless children orphaned. To escape the ravages of war, army officer's wife Mrs. Helen Hog (played by Helen McCrory) and Eve Perkins (played by Phoebe Fox) take a group of orphans onto a train, eventually reaching a remote location for refuge. After an arduous journey, they arrive at their destination and are placed in a temporary military hospital. However, this location was once the notorious Eel Marsh House, where the black-clad woman once roamed. Just escaping one danger, the terrified women and children are about to encounter an even more terrifying nightmare, as the malevolent spirit's killings unfold in an orderly manner… This film is adapted from the bestselling novel by British author Susan Hill.
