A decade after the fight against the alien invasion and the successful sealing of the wormhole, humanity rises from the ruins. They forget their fears and indulge in revelry, including General Stacker Pentecost's son, Jake (played by John Boyega). During a heist for discarded Jaeger parts, he encounters a girl named Amara (played by Cailee Spaeny) who has built a mini Jaeger all on her own. Subsequently, under the guidance of her sister Mako Mori (played by Rinko Kikuchi), Jake and Amara undergo training at the Jaeger pilot academy at the Shao Corporation in Shanghai, led by President Shao Liwen (played by Jing Tian), who is committed to replacing traditional Jaegers with drone technology. At this critical moment, a black Jaeger, strikingly similar to the vengeful wanderer, suddenly appears and unleashes ruthless slaughter upon humanity. It is discovered that the distant alien "precursors" are still lurking, waiting for the moment to annihilate the people of Earth…
