Programmer Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson) working for a well-known search engine company wins a lottery to spend a week at the remote villa of his boss Nathan (Oscar Isaac). Upon arrival, Nathan warmly welcomes Caleb. However, Nathan has another purpose for inviting Caleb: to assist in testing an intelligent robot he has developed. Nathan, a genius in his field, has created an AI named Ava (Alicia Vikander) that possesses independent thought. To determine her cognitive abilities, he wants Caleb to conduct the famous "Turing Test." From their first encounter, Caleb seems captivated by the robot, who possesses a strikingly human-like appearance. In their subsequent interactions, what Caleb faces appears not to be a cold machine but more like a poor girl who has been innocently imprisoned...
