An original documentary produced by IMAX In the Chengdu Panda Base in China, scientists are dedicated to breeding adult pandas and introducing cubs into the wild. The film focuses on a passionate researcher who has developed a new technique inspired by the black bear program in rural New Hampshire, USA. An American biologist collaborates with a scientist from Inner Mongolia, along with a curious female panda cub named "Qian Qian," who was born in captivity, embarking on a journey of international cooperation that aims to change the lives of pandas. Shot with IMAX cameras, the film captures Qian Qian's thrilling new adventure as she steps out of the protective habitat and into the mountains of Sichuan, discovering the nature of animals even as she faces challenges with an uncertain future. Directed by David Douglas & Drew Fellman ("Born to Be Wild," "Madagascar: Island of Lemurs"), with Fellman as the writer and producer, Douglas also serves as the director of photography, with Donald Kushner and Steve Ransohoff as producers, Li Gen Xiong & Elie Samaha as executive producers, and Neal Allen as the online producer. The film is rated G and will be released in select IMAX and IMAX 3D theaters in North America starting April 6, 2018.
