High school girl Chun Ying (played by Guo Shuyao) is a Taiwanese girl who grew up in a poor single-parent family. She leaves her hometown for Taipei to attend Jingmei Girls' High School. At school, she joins the tug-of-war team, which requires no special skills. All team members come from single-parent or financially disadvantaged families, and they lack the bad habits of spoiled children, each of them full of positive energy. The classmates on the tug-of-war team know that there is no way back, relying solely on their own efforts in everything they do.
