A research team from Cambridge discovered a virus that can render those infected in a permanent state of killing. This virus spreads extremely quickly and cannot be contained. After members of an animal protection organization accidentally released a batch of gorillas carrying the virus from a laboratory, the bustling city of London turned into a dead city in just 28 days. On one morning, a bicycle courier (Cillian Murphy) wakes up naked in a dilapidated hospital, surrounded by chaos, making him doubt he is dreaming. As night falls, he is attacked by infected individuals, and in a critical moment, he is saved by Selena (Naomie Harris) and Mark (Noah Huntley), who inform him of the events happening in London. The few uninfected individuals left are only a small number of London residents and some soldiers stationed outside Manchester. When the three of them struggle to find a glimmer of hope for the future, they discover that the true horror lies not in the virus itself.
