During the 1930s, in Marseilles, France, two small time crooks work for local crime bosses until they decide to go into business for themselves. This film is Alain Delon's second production as a producer (the first was JEFF), a successful collaboration with another French cinema giant, Jean-Paul Belmondo (they hold similar statuses in French cinema, twin stars). At that time, it was the highest-grossing film in French history.
