In 1760, at the Liverpool docks, the Collins couple is boarding a ship bound for the New World with their young son, Barnabas, to expand the Collins family empire. Sixteen years later, Barnabas (played by Johnny Depp) grows up, inherits the family business, and resides at Collinwood Manor. The witch Angelique (played by Eva Green) pursues him, but Barnabas is devoted to the kind-hearted Josette (played by Bella Heathcote) and coldly rejects the witch. Angered and humiliated, the witch curses them, and Josette dies tragically, while Barnabas is transformed into an immortal vampire and trapped in a coffin. Two centuries later, a construction crew accidentally opens the coffin, and when Barnabas returns to the manor, he discovers that his former home, Collinsport, has become the witch's Angel Bay, ruled by her for 200 years, with the townsfolk firmly under her control. Can Barnabas, as a vampire, reclaim the family business and shatter the witch's lies? Meanwhile, a young girl who looks remarkably like his former love, Josette, mysteriously arrives in Collinsport... This film is adapted from a soap opera that aired on ABC in the 1960s, telling the adventures of vampire Barnabas Collins with werewolves, witches, zombies, and other non-human creatures across various times and spaces.
