The Rho family in Milan, Italy, amassed wealth through the textile industry. At a birthday banquet for the family patriarch, the grandfather passes the business to his son Tancredi (Gabriele Ferzetti) and grandson Edoardo (Flavio Parenti). Tancredi's Russian wife, Emma (Tilda Swinton), has a passion for cooking. After meeting her son Edoardo's chef friend Antonio (Edoardo Gabbriellini), Emma is captivated by Antonio's exceptional culinary skills and falls deeply in love. Furthermore, Emma must hide the fact that she has accidentally discovered her daughter Elizabeth (Alba Rohrwacher) is a lesbian. Meanwhile, the family's business is undergoing changes. Despite Edoardo's strong opposition to selling the family business, he cannot withstand the tide of global capital, making a merger inevitable. During a business dinner, an unexpected incident disrupts the facade that Emma has painstakingly maintained, and her soul is about to break free…
