On the surface, Fire Qilin (played by Peng Jiansi) is a petty thug aimlessly wandering the streets all day, but in reality, his true identity is an informant working for the police. In an accident, Fire Qilin discovers very important information and is subsequently killed by the crazed gangster Da Sang. With unresolved issues, the restless spirit of Fire Qilin seeks out his former friend Ah Deng (played by Tony Leung), and with Fire Qilin's help, Ah Deng successfully apprehends Da Sang. In a chance encounter, Ah Deng meets a woman named Sally (played by Ni Shujun), whose gentleness and beauty quickly catch his attention. Shy and honest, Ah Deng wants to pursue Sally but struggles to find a way to do so. At this moment, Fire Qilin becomes the "love strategist" providing advice to Ah Deng. As Ah Deng and Sally grow closer, news comes that Da Sang has escaped from prison. Seeking revenge, Da Sang not only kidnaps Sally but also sets up numerous traps for Ah Deng.
