Auguste leads three con artists disguised as missionaries, successfully scamming people time and again. One day, he unexpectedly encounters his innocent and carefree daughter on the street, leading to a moment of realization. However, he is recognized as a con artist and is arrested in front of his daughter. After being released from prison, Auguste returns to his old ways, but during a scam to raise money for his daughter's tuition, he tries to keep the money for himself and is brutally beaten by his accomplices, ultimately dying at the edge of a cliff.
