Hee-ryun (played by Lim Jin-ah) loses her son Jun-soo in Seoul. Heartbroken, she returns to her hometown of Changshan with her amnesiac mother-in-law to recuperate, hoping her mother-in-law will remember how Jun-soo went missing. One day, Hee-ryun encounters a ragged mysterious girl in a cave near Changshan. Perhaps out of sympathy, perhaps from loneliness, Hee-ryun takes the girl home, intending to care for her until she finds the girl's parents. The two grow closer, and the girl gradually starts to resemble Hee-ryun’s daughter, calling Hee-ryun "Mom" and herself "Jun-hee," her appearance and voice increasingly similar to the missing "Jun-soo." After the mysterious girl arrives, a series of incomprehensible strange events occur: Hee-ryun's mother-in-law first experiences auditory hallucinations, then is abducted by a rumored creature residing in the caves of Changshan... Can Hee-ryun find her son Jun-soo? Can the broken family reunite again under the shadow of the monster?
