Zhao Gangsheng (played by Leslie Cheung), tired of his life in the underworld, seeks to wash his hands of it and go to Canada to pursue his idol, Yamaguchi Momoe. His chosen immigration route is—taking the chef exam at a Canadian hotel, but with no understanding of culinary skills, he ultimately fails miserably due to cheating exposure.
