This film is adapted from the 1968 film and the 2001 Broadway musical of the same name. Accountant Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) arrives at the office of the worst producer on Broadway, Max (Nathan Lane), to handle his finances, and inadvertently mentions that he could embezzle two million dollars by producing the most failed musical ever. Max convinces Leo, who has always dreamed of being a producer, to co-produce the musical with him. They choose a script called "Springtime for Hitler" by former Nazi Franz (Will Ferrell), hire the notorious gay director Roger (Gary Beach) and his assistant Carmen (Roger Bart), and find a stunning Swiss actress with no acting experience, Ulla (Uma Thurman), to be both their secretary and leading lady. Unexpectedly, this guaranteed failure turns out to be a huge success... This film was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for Best Musical or Comedy, Best Original Song, Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (Nathan Lane), and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical or Comedy (Will Ferrell), and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
