Eiji (played by Ken Takakura) is a police officer renowned for his precise shooting skills. Eiji deeply loves his wife, but he never expected that the woman he trusted so much would betray him, leading to his painful decision to divorce. Aiba (played by Hidetaka Ōtaki) is Eiji's shooting instructor, who is assassinated. Following the clues left by the killer, Eiji finds the killer's sister, Reiko. Eventually, using Reiko as bait, Eiji successfully captures the mastermind, Omon. Later, he encounters a bar owner named Kiriko (played by Chieko Baishō), and the two quickly fall in love. Kiriko's tenderness inspires Eiji to contemplate resigning. However, at this critical moment, he discovers that Kiriko's lover, Morinaka, is the actual murderer of Aiba, and driven by his sense of justice, Eiji personally shoots Morinaka dead.
