Norbit (Eddie Murphy) is a young Black man with a troubled background; he was abandoned by his parents as a child and raised by a Chinese man named Old Wang (Eddie Murphy) who runs a restaurant and an orphanage. Norbit often gets bullied by his peers, with only the beautiful Kate being his best friend. They even held a childish and adorable wedding ceremony during their childhood. However, not all beautiful stories end beautifully. Norbit's marriage is a tragedy. His wife is not Kate but the enormous, ton-sized super-sized woman, Rasputia (Eddie Murphy). Rasputia is dull and rude, with a fiery temper, leaving Norbit submissive and miserable under her "leadership." One day, fate intervenes. Kate (Thandie Newton), who left town years ago, returns, giving Norbit new hope...
