Shadi (played by Saleh Bakri) is about to attend his sister's wedding. According to village tradition, Shadi must drive around with his father (played by Mohammed Bakri) in their small car, personally delivering invitations to relatives and friends. This means that Shadi will be bound to his father, whom he has not seen in a long time, throughout the journey. Shadi is very critical of many of his father's habits, considering him stubborn and backward, much like most of the unambitious people in their hometown. When Shadi was very young, his mother could no longer endure the village's insular environment and chose to abandon her husband and children to seek a new life elsewhere. Although Shadi lost his mother's love, he can now fully understand her choice. As the journey progresses, the relationship between Shadi and his father becomes increasingly tense.
