Pan Jiafu (played by Pan Changjiang), a man suffering from late-stage lung cancer, encounters rebellious college senior Xiaomi (played by Putao) during his journey. Together, they embark on a trip from Mudanjiang to Linyi. Throughout this journey, they are both impacted and influenced by each other's presence. For Xiaomi, Pan Jiafu’s rich experiences and understanding of family allow her to rediscover the warmth of home. Under Pan Jiafu’s guidance, she reconciles with her mother, understands the importance of family, and learns to cherish those around her. For Pan Jiafu, Xiaomi’s rebellion and vitality provide him with new feelings and experiences. In his interactions with Xiaomi, he reconciles with an old friend, fulfills his wife's wishes, and returns to his hometown of Linyi, resolving his greatest lifelong regret. Returning to Linyi, he witnesses the tremendous changes in his hometown, which is no longer the desolate and neglected rural area of his past but a vibrant city. All of this makes Pan Jiafu feel a sense of completeness and no regrets in life. Throughout this journey, Pan Jiafu and Xiaomi accompany each other and grow together, bringing strength and inspiration to one another. Even in the face of an ultimately fleeting life, Pan Jiafu finds a sense of belonging and fulfillment during this trip, experiencing the meaning and value of life.
