The male protagonist Dylan (played by Michiel Huisman) has a strict daily routine and a natural ability to perceive patterns. One afternoon at 2:22 PM, Dylan Branson, an air traffic controller, is paralyzed by a mysterious light, nearly causing a plane he was directing to crash. From then on, he experiences this light every day and gradually realizes he is trapped in some sort of cycle. By chance, Dylan meets Sarah (played by Teresa Palmer), with whom he instantly falls in love. They are surprised to discover in their conversation that Sarah was a passenger on the flight that nearly crashed, and coincidentally, they share the same birthday. As their understanding deepens, the coincidences between Dylan and Sarah multiply, and the recurring hallucinations along with the constantly looping events link their fates to a murder case that occurred thirty years ago in New York's Grand Central Station. Dylan continues to investigate the secrets behind "2:22" and discovers that the murder case from thirty years ago is about to repeat itself.
