Truck driver Ma Hanqiang (Jackie Chan) travels to the U.S. to congratulate his uncle Biao on his recent marriage. He learns that his uncle plans to live a quiet life with his Black wife after marriage, and that the supermarket he has managed for many years has been sold to a young widow, Elaine (Anita Mui). Upon meeting Elaine, Ma Hanqiang feels an immediate attraction and offers to help her with business matters. Soon, a group of punks led by Johnny starts causing trouble and vandalizing the supermarket. In the face of them, Ma Hanqiang bravely fights back, reminding them of the greater values of life. However, just as one crisis is averted, Ma Hanqiang finds himself embroiled in the theft of diamond loot and is hunted by the mafia.
