This film is adapted from the 1998 French movie "Le Diner de Cons". Tim Wagner (played by Paul Rudd) participates in an event known as the "Dinner for Idiots" to impress his boss and secure a promotion. The aim is to find the perfect companion for dinner, where they will see whose guest is the biggest idiot. Tim invites the seemingly foolish IRS employee Barry (played by Steve Carell) to be his partner in competing for the title of "Biggest Idiot" to amuse his boss. However, unexpected events occur, as Barry, while indeed an idiot, inadvertently makes Tim's boss look foolish as well, causing quite a stir at the dinner. How will Tim handle the situation? Who is the true top idiot?
