Nick and Nora, this comical detective couple, always team up to investigate cases. This time they are tackling the case of a missing inventor, trying to find out why he disappeared and where he went... ? Successfully blending comedy and suspense elements, the couple played by William Powell and Myrna Loy is the first successful on-screen duo in film history! Directed by W.S. Van Dyke, famously known for "Once OK," this film was completed in just two weeks! The cinematography was handled by the Chinese filmmaker Huang Zongzhan. The unique comedic suspense style of this film laid the groundwork for future movies of this genre. The script was adapted by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich from a novel by Dashiell Hammett. Five sequels were made later.
