The film tells a sad yet funny story of friendship among men living at the bottom of the urban society: Takayuki Yamada plays the role of Ukyou Kondo, a man who remains unyielding in a harsh world and gets angry when he sees young people shouting in pubs. The only person he can get along with is the kind and honest Ushiyama (Ryo Raku), who works in gold mining. Ukyou's brother, the business elite Soko (Takeru Satoh), envies their carefree life despite their low income. One day, Ukyou and Ushiyama find an old robot in an abandoned lot next to their home.
