He Zhiping (played by Jin Shi), a staff member at the Alishan Weather Station, is usually focused on his research work, neglecting his wife Junli (played by Mu Hong). The lonely Junli suffers from severe emotional instability and often relies on alcohol to numb herself. Zhiping's brother Zhixiong (played by Ou Wei) is inapt and arranges for the gangster Gao Dahu (played by Tang Jing) to hide at the weather station to evade the police. On the run, Dahu encounters the runaway girl Xiaosan (played by Luo Wanlin), and the two disguise themselves as father and daughter to head to Alishan.
