Detailed introduction

This film (drama)Also known as淑女と髯,is aJapanProducerwomen sex,At1931Released in year 。The dialogue language isJapanese,Current Douban rating6.5(For reference only)。
A simple and unpretentious comedy by Ozu, telling the story of a man with a beard and three women. Okajima is skilled at kendo and popular among his classmates, but his bushy beard makes girls keep their distance, especially his classmate's younger sister, Kiko. After graduating, Okajima finds himself unemployed, and a chance encounter with Hiromi leads her to suggest that his beard is the problem and he should shave it off. Without his beard, Okajima turns out to be a handsome young man, and job offers come rolling in, along with girls surrounding him, including Kiko, Hiromi, and even a bad girl. Ozu loves to shape characters through the personalities of actors, and Okada Yoshihiko playing the bearded role is no exception. He is one of Ozu's favorite actors and has a huge catalyzing effect in this film, delivering awkward comedic moments with his handsome flair, without any of the superficiality typical of comic actors. Unfortunately, Okada passed away young, and "Tokyo Chorus" became his swan song; otherwise, Ozu's pessimistic tone would have been greatly delayed.
