The stylish Xiaosai (played by Alan Tam) has passed his thirties, yet spends his days idly with a group of friends, living aimlessly and without purpose. He seeks to join a gang under a big brother but is beaten down; he tries to take the fall for someone but is treated as a punching bag by the corrupt officer 3662 (played by Shing Fui-On). Living off his older sister (played by Lam Kin Ming), he faces constant snide remarks from his brother-in-law (played by Hsu Shao-Hsiung). With his sister's help, Xiaosai lands a job selling insurance, but his chaotic approach leads him to the extreme of self-harm to commit insurance fraud. Ultimately, he secures a deal, but while substituting for a client in a medical exam, he discovers he has a terminal illness, with only a month left to live. Xiaosai decides to take on his enemies boldly and die with honor. He helps a friend fulfill a dream of meeting a beautiful woman, punishes Officer 3662 and drives him out of Hong Kong. Donning a police uniform, Xiaosai kills several robbers in a dramatic fashion, becoming a temporary city hero due to the extensive media coverage. The fearless demeanor of Xiaosai captures the attention of a journalist named Dora (played by Maggie Cheung), who is constantly pursued. With a renewed sense of purpose, Xiaosai takes on a new legendary role as he continues his exploits, but knowing he has only a month to live makes it hard for him to accept Dora's love…
