Finbar McBride (played by Peter Dinklage) is an ordinary man who just wants to live a quiet life, but his naturally small stature of four feet five inches makes him exceptionally noticeable. Amidst the pointing fingers and mocking laughter of others, Finbar has no choice but to avoid crowds and devote all his time and energy to studying various trains. When his only friend passes away, Finbar decides to leave his familiar surroundings and move into an abandoned train garage in the countryside of New Jersey, left to him by his friend, to live alone. However, unexpected visitors begin to appear one after another, and Finbar, who initially hoped to live in isolation, reluctantly starts his neighborhood life. He meets Olivia Harris (played by Patricia Clarkson), a middle-aged painter who has just suffered the loss of her child; Joe Oramas (played by Bobby Cannavale), a talkative and enthusiastic hot dog vendor; and other new friends. Gradually, under their warm care, Finbar, who once kept everyone at arm's length, begins to open his heart, and his life undergoes subtle changes in unexpected ways.
