Adapted from the novel of the same name by Taichiro Tamura. During World War II in northern China, a group of comfort women is stationed in Tianjin. The lovesick woman Harumi (played by Yumiko Yokokawa) volunteers to join the comfort station to forget the betrayal by her lover Narita. Harumi meets different soldiers every day, living a disheartened life. A lieutenant named Narita (played by Isao Tamagawa) reminds Harumi of her former lover, causing her inner pain to deepen. By chance, Harumi encounters Narita's sentry - Private First Class Mikami (played by Tamio Kawachi), reigniting a long-extinguished flame of love in her heart. Mikami, intimidated by the commander’s authority, dares not act out, suffering greatly. During an attack by the Eighth Route Army, Mikami and Harumi seize the opportunity to escape, but upon returning to the unit, they must face the severe punishment from Lieutenant Narita, making their love path full of thorns...
