In 1901, Murakami Ijihei came to Hong Kong after resigning from a barbershop run by Japanese and followed militarist Captain Uehara to "Mukden," mingling in brothels run by Japanese, inciting prostitutes to gather intelligence from Russians. A Japanese woman named Ariu was hanged by the Russians when her activities were exposed. Murakami returned to Hong Kong and continued to frequent brothels. One day, he met his long-lost lover, Shisui, and began searching for Japanese women who had been smuggled in.
