Elizabeth (played by Cameron Diaz) is an unrepentant jerk in her personal life, but she also has another identity — a public school teacher. After being dumped by her ex-boyfriend, she reluctantly returns to her hated job and starts slacking off. She has always been dissatisfied with her breast size, and this time, she finally decides to get breast augmentation, but first, she needs to raise the expensive surgery fee. A new teacher named Scott (played by Justin Timberlake) catches Elizabeth's eye with his youthful looks, but unfortunately, her seemingly friendly yet sinister colleague Amy (played by Lucy Punch) is also flirting with him. Scott gets together with Amy, which frustrates Elizabeth, but the gym teacher Russell (played by Jason Segel), who has been pursuing Elizabeth, seems quite pleased with the situation. Elizabeth, feeling robbed of her love, focuses all her energy on making money. She learns that if her class scores well on the state exams, she will receive a $5,700 bonus as the homeroom teacher. This news lifts Elizabeth's spirits, but her underperforming students lead her to consider unethical shortcuts on the test answers.
