Yan Nanguo (played by Xu Guanyin) has been separated from his sister Aping (played by Zheng Yawen), who married and moved to Hong Kong, for many years. Although Aping often sends money and goods, Yan Nanguo mostly uses it to benefit the villagers, while he spends his days joyfully leaping and working in the woods. One day, Yan Nanguo finally decides to go to Hong Kong to visit his sister and her supposedly wealthy husband, Huang Jiafan (played by Huang Baoming). However, upon his arrival, he discovers that the reality is quite different: Aping's family of four is crammed into a small two-bedroom apartment with the unmarried flight attendant sister Huang Jialing (played by Wang Zuxian), and Huang Jiafan supports the family solely on his salary as a shoe store employee. Meanwhile, the Huang family feels uncomfortable with Yan Nanguo's blunt and rustic ways, leading to many conflicts as both sides try to coexist under the same roof. Yan Nanguo is introduced to work at the shoe store by Huang Jiafan, but he is dismissed by the boss's wife after just one day; soon after, Yan Nanguo also ruins Jialing's relationship with a wealthy businessman’s son. Feeling dejected, Yan Nanguo participates in a game show and unexpectedly wins an opportunity to go abroad, but unfortunately encounters misfortunes during his journey...
