The Taiwanese master of gambling, the Grandmaster, suffers defeat against Hong Kong's King of Gamblers, Huang Shangqian (played by Huang Baoming), establishing a feud between them. One day, Huang Shangqian's disciple, Ah Wei (played by Tony Leung), meets the widow Su Qian who has returned from Singapore, believing he can make a big profit. Thus, he collaborates with Young Master Ren (played by Simon Yam) and his senior sister Da Bomei (played by Ye Zimei) to set up a trap. However, it turns out that Su Qian is also a con artist, and instead of scoring big, Ah Wei and the others end up in debt. In desperation, Ah Wei has to call upon his master, Huang Daqian, who wins back Ah Wei's signed contract from Su Qian. They reconcile and agree to collaborate against the swindler Long Zaitian. They easily manage to get two million from Long Zaitian, who is unwilling to be fooled and seeks the Grandmaster for another showdown...
