The death of his father (Christopher Plummer) deeply affects Oliver (Ewan McGregor). He faces a career bottleneck, feels exhausted by social interactions, and is unable to let go of his restraints when he meets the girl of his dreams. In the days following his father's passing, he often reflects on the day everything began to change. One day after his mother's death, his father called Oliver over and told him two things: first, he had cancer; second, he had come out as gay. Initially shocked and unable to cope, Oliver gradually begins to heal as he witnesses his father thriving alongside his partner during treatment. Although his father is gone, his influence remains, particularly in shaping Oliver's attitude toward life and relationships. These experiences guide him to embrace bravery, realizing that everyone else is just a beginner in their interactions with one another. The film is based on the true story of the director and his father. Christopher Plummer, who plays the father, won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 69th Golden Globe Awards and the 84th Academy Awards.
