Yuxiaobao (played by Jiang Feng), an older drifter in Beijing, has spent many years in the city with only one wish: to break into the film industry and be surrounded by stars every day. Unfortunately, reality does not align with his dreams, and he has been living a dismal and difficult life. Driven by vanity, he tells his family that he is now a director, when in fact he has only just managed to become a stills photographer. His daughter is overjoyed and immediately gathers a group of classmates to visit their "director dad" in Beijing.
