At a young age, A Tao (Zhang Jingchu) witnessed her father being blown up, which caused her to become simple-minded. When she grew up, her aunt A Shui (Li Lizhen) took her to help out at the massage parlor she ran in China. A Tao's innocence attracted the affection of the gangster boss Sha Ba (Li Xiuxian) who frequented the parlor. During a police chase, A Tao accidentally stumbled into the home of the Yao man A Xia (Zhang Jiahui). A Xia made a living from a karaoke business by the roadside, and A Tao's beautiful voice opened up new opportunities for him, while A Tao believed that A Xia was like a father to her because he had a similar mole on his forehead. A Xia's business improved significantly with A Tao’s involvement, with long lines forming outside for people wanting to duet with her. As A Xia and A Tao spent time together, their relationship underwent subtle changes; A Xia became enraged when lecherous men took advantage of A Tao, while A Tao felt angry seeing A Xia being affectionate with his lover A Hua. Sha Ba, who has been worried about the innocent A Tao, is determined to adopt her as his goddaughter. After A Tao is kidnapped by Sha Ba's men, she accidentally sees Sha Ba firing a gun, which fills her with fear and makes her flee back to A Xia. Sha Ba is not someone who gives up easily, and the story becomes complicated due to his persistence. This film is directed by the famous director Zhang Jiarui, whose three works—"Norma's Seventeen," "Flower Yao Bride," and "Red River"—are collectively known as the "Yunnan Trilogy."
