During the colonial era of Spanish rule in South America, oppressive taxes left the people in dire straits. The new governor, Miguel, is killed on his way to take office, and before dying, he hands the official seal to his friend, "Europe's greatest swordsman" Don Diego (played by Alain Delon), entrusting him to carry on his legacy. Three months later, the new governor suddenly appears, but he seems to be a debauched nobleman, letting others handle all affairs. Meanwhile, tales spread among the people of a masked black hero who descends from the heavens, punishing the wicked and helping the weak; the name "Zorro" spreads like wildfire, causing great headaches for the colonizers, and raising further suspicion about the new governor's identity. Diego, who holds the dual identity of governor and hero, battles the brutal Colonel Vuelta, ultimately ending the villain's life during Vuelta's forced marriage to the good girl, Otoncia, thereby saving the local people from great harm. Zorro bids farewell to the good girl Otoncia and leaves New Aragon. This righteous hero, pursuing justice and freedom, mounts his chestnut horse once more to continue his adventures…
