The son of the pear garden, Xiao Chen (played by 陈勋奇), is born as a cute and lively child, but loses his hearing due to the stupidity of the elders. From then on, his world is filled with silence, and comics become Xiao Chen's only companion. Driven by his interest, Xiao Chen becomes involved in comic creation as an adult, but his works are far behind the times, and receiving rejections and poor sales become a daily occurrence.
