In her middle age, Annie (Kristen Wiig) is still going nowhere in life, living in a haze. Her longtime boyfriend treats her merely as a lover, with no intention of starting a family. At this moment, Annie's friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) suddenly decides to get married and invites several female friends, including Annie, to form a bridesmaid group. Within the bridesmaid group, Helen (Rose Byrne) comes from a wealthy background and is charming, dedicating herself to creating a luxurious engagement party for Lillian. Annie is unhappy with Helen's control over the wedding preparations, constantly clashing with her in an attempt to express her deep friendship with Lillian, but each of her efforts ends up displeasing everyone and provoking Lillian's frustration. Meanwhile, Annie begins to face many life issues. The appearance of Officer Rhodes (Chris O'Dowd) seems to open a new window for Annie. Can Annie escape these predicaments and get her life back on track?
